Five golf courses in the Riviera hinterland

The French Riviera has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers. You play all year, and spring and autumn give the best conditions. Summer is warm and busy. Winter (December–January) brings cooler days (12–16 °C) and fewer people on the course.

Royal Mougins is about 5 minutes from Mougins. Golf d’Opio Valbonne is about 8 minutes from the centre of Valbonne. Golf de Biot is 15 minutes from Mougins. Golf de la Grande Bastide is about 8 minutes from Grasse. Golf de Saint-Donat is about 10 minutes from the centre of Grasse. Each course is within about 15 minutes of at least one of our eight towns.

For 18 holes, green fees run from about €59 to €190 depending on course and season. Golf de Biot (par 69): €85–€90. Golf d’Opio Valbonne: €59–€110. Golf de Saint-Donat: €80–€125. Golf de la Grande Bastide: €100–€110 with a golf licence, €130–€140 without. Royal Mougins: €110 in low season to €190 in high season. Rates change each year, so check with each club before you book.

No. All five courses welcome visitors and day players. Membership is optional and open to regular players. Ask each club for its current annual rates and conditions.

The 9-hole, par 27 compact course at Golf de Saint-Donat suits beginners: short and forgiving. Golf de Biot (par 69) works for beginners and mid-handicappers. Golf d’Opio Valbonne, Royal Mougins (par 71) and the Saint-Donat 18-hole course (par 71) suit established handicaps. Ask each club about coaching and lessons.
